Devan McGrath is a native Portlander whose entire life seems to have been in preparation for Sissyboy. He started early with living room character studies, musical numbers, and puppet shows which gave way to acting classes and summer camps, and eventually a slew of bad performances in school plays and community theatre. When he was 18, he formed a drag troupe with his sister (who was San Francisco's reigning Drag King of the year), where he lip-synched to pop music, adding intricate choreography and subversive re-contextualizations.
When McGrath discovered Sissyboy in the back of a warehouse during their second show, he knew he'd found an outlet for all the bad acting he could muster. While involved with the group, he became a producer for Portland's cable access station, where he plundered their resources to create Sissyboy's notorious video clips. This eventually led him to enroll at Columbia College Chicago, where he currently is working toward a BA in Film. Formerly a die-hard perfectionist, McGrath is infinitely grateful to Sissyboy for showing him the beauty of chaos, and the profound merits of sloppiness.
