Lawrence “Oberon” Lowery was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to Sacramento, CA in 1986. Upon returning to Portland in 2005, Lowery met the Sissies through mutual friends and got to know them after spending time with them at Wolf Creek Sanctuary, home of the Radical Faeries.
At that time, member Lee Kyle was producing a performance piece based on the work of Tom Spanbauer, and invited Lowery to play the part of “Rose”. The performance was a success, and soon after Lee and Zebra asked him for a cameo appearance in Sissyboy’s piece in Portland’s TBA festival. Lowery says “I gladly accepted and had a smash up time. After that it was kind of a done deal...I have a dance background, but until I met the Sissies I was always too nervous to get on stage”.
Lowery is currently performing with March Fourth marching band for the group’s anniversary series, and will soon be relocating to the Bay area to attend the San Francisco Circus Center.
